Moxies
0Two years ago, I met for the very first time, a person who renewed my faith in men. With his refreshing genuine smile I might have been swept off my feet at that very moment. I didn’t know it then but this person would know how to make me feel special, make me feel pretty and make sure I was the happiest I could be, even when I was being a grump. One year later this person would make my life even more memorable by solidifying our amazing relationship with a ring.
I can’t confirm or deny that the universe has something already set up for each and every individual. Maybe life as we know it has something to do with a greater being but whatever it is that makes the world turn made mine turn for the better when they introduced J in my life. We’re now celebrating 2 years of being together and getting ready to be married in one short month. We went out for dinner to celebrate, but both agreed to keep the cost down since we sort of went overboard on gifts. I know, we’re getting married and still got gifts. Needless to say we’re not getting each other wedding gifts now. Being in Langley doesn’t offer a lot of option so went to Moxies.
The server we ended up with was out of control chatty overly fake nice. I guess that beats someone who hates their job and doesn’t care but I wouldn’t have minded it if she toned it down a bit. Despite being bombared with someone pretending to be our best friend I noticed that the menu still hasn’t changed. What is up with that Moxies. Its been pretty much the same for the past 5 years. Our new BBF told us that there was actually changes to the menus, exciting changes, they made the patty bigger in their ultimate burger so instead of 2 you get one big patty. Well, I can’t say that I was excited by that but I was excited that she stopped talking.
Who am I kidding anyway, I always order the chicken enchiladas when I go to Moxies. It is always a consistent ooey gooey cheese goodness and this time was no exception.
J ordered the chicken and ribs combo. When it came J thought that there wouldn’t be a chance in hell that he could finish the whole meal. It had 2 chicken breasts, a small rack of ribs, double stuffed potato and vegetables. After he took one bit the look on his face proved that yes, he was going to finish the entire plate. I had a bite of chicken and was actually quite shocked that it was cooked perfectly. It was extremely juicy, very flavorful and seasoned just right. I usually don’t order chicken breast in chain style restaurants unless its chopped up in something because its usually dry. I was very impressed. The rest I assume was also great since he devoured it without offering up anymore samples.
In the end J was happy because he had a good meal that didn’t cost a lot, and I was happy that I got some delicious leftovers for lunch the next day. I am sure we’ll be back as the food is pretty consistent and lets face it, there isn’t a lot of choice in Langley.

0I had a fun and exciting day yesterday dress shopping with my Mom and Maid of Honour. I wish my bridesmaids could have come because they’re kind of missing out but we unfortunately have different days off. It’s pretty exhausting as well so maybe they’re lucky I didn’t drag them around. After spending an hour and half working up an appetite putting on and off these heavy dresses I was desperate to get out of there and eat. By the looks on the faces of mom and my friend I would say they were ready for some food too!
We walked down the road from the boutique and came to Moxies. I think out of most of the chain restaurants Moxies is on my top 3. I have yet to order something I haven’t liked and like how the portions are a good size and not overly expensive compared to similar chains. Ya, I know they’re basically all the same, with the same decor and the same atmosphere but I personally just find the food slightly better.
Today my friend and I ordered the Tuscan chicken sandwich with fries, which is an opened faced sandwich with olive tapenade, cucumbers, tomato, grilled chicken, basil pesto and crumbled feta cheese on top, all layers on a lightly toasted focaccia. I really like this sandwich because of all the Mediterranean flavours and it’s not overpowering either. The fries were cooked well, crispy and didn’t get soggy throughout the meal.
My mom ordered the California Fish Tacos. The fish is a crispy chipotle-lime marinated cod and served on grilled whole wheat tortillas, shredded greens, guacamole and salsa fresco. The second these were put on the table I was impressed, they looked great! The taco shells were actually soft tacos and only lightly grilled so there wasn’t any crunch even though in the photo they sort of look like they might be. It’s nice that they were soft because the crispiness of the fish was good enough. The shredded greens were light and mixed with the guac and the salsa you top yourself to control the spice. I really enjoyed these and my Mom loved them.

Now I am sure with all chain restaurants they have their good and bad days but overall I have always enjoyed my time spent at any of the Moxie`s locations.
