Sometimes the most enjoyable things in life are so simple. Sometimes they’re also really messy. When you put those two things together then you have the best food in the world. A simple to make, messy to eat dish that will leave you with a finger licking, lip smacking smile. That is exactly what peel and eat garlic prawns will be. A great appetizer, snack or a side dish for that bbq’d steak you’ve been meaning to make your friends. Grab yourself a bottle of wheat ale and enjoy making this and eating this dish.
Ingredients
- ½ pound of fresh or frozen uncooked prawns (with shells on)
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1-2 cloves of garlic minced
- Splash of dry white wine or sherry
- Fresh parsley chopped for garnish
Heat a large frying pan to med-high heat, add olive oil and butter. When butter starts to bubble adds garlic, cook for 1 min, and add wine and prawns. Cook Prawns until they’re pink; do not overcook unless you like the texture of rubber erasers. Pour into dish and top with parsley.
When you put these down on the table watch the eyes of your friends light up! This is a perfect patio snack. I love how they’re dripping with garlicky goodness and using your hands to peel off their delicate shells to the sweet prawn deliciousness. Swigging your wheat ale and slurping on garlic prawns is such a wonderful summer treat.
