I was in Chilliwack recently visiting family and went out for dinner for one last hurrah birthday celebration. I don’t know how I got so lucky but I was able to stretch out the birthday fun for 4 days! Usually during special occasions we head out to Dakota’s restaurant but the last we were there I think the majority of us were disappointed by the food quality, so I chose to eat at Jackson’s Steak and Grill (5725 Vedder Road).

The place itself is fairly nice and cozy and the staff we very friendly. The table we were seated at was a bit small and narrow though and we were all sort of wondering how our plates and drinks were all going to fit. The server came fairly quickly and we were also given a fresh loaf of bread and whipped butter. The bread was still warm and cooked perfectly. I know I’ve said it before but complimentary food is always a hit in my books! Unfortunately since they were so busy they had run out of prime rib but they have a lot of beef on the menu so it was easy to find something else.

My mom and I shared a serving of escargot. Since we had already finished our bread we asked for another and the server brought it over right away with no hesitation. We both like to eat our escargot with bread or toast to soak up the garlic butter. The escargot was amazing! Lots of cheese, butter, garlic and goodness. We finished it so fast I could only take a photo of the empty plate!

I ordered the 7oz Sirloin as my main, and chose garlic mashed potatoes for my side. It was also served with green beans and carrots. The steak was perfectly medium rare and seasoned nicely. I had zero complaints on my meal.

J ordered the smoked baby back ribs. He claims he doesn’t have a favourite food but he always seems to order ribs in these kinds of restaurants. He thought they were delicious and even shared a rib with me. It had a thick smoky tomato sauce on them and tasted like they just came out of a fire. They were tender and succulent.

My dad got the rib eye steak and I think this was the winner of the evening. It’s grilled with herbs and served with a stilton demi glace. The stilton very mild, almost lost but that didn’t matter. It also seemed toalso be a smoky after taste as well. The meat again was cooked perfectly. It was amazing, and I think I am going to get this next time I go. My mom had the sirloin Neptune and based on the lack of talking when she first started to eat I will say she also loved her meal!

I don’t think I have ever had a bad meal at Jackson’s and will more can almost guarantee the family and I will return for another meal in the future.
