I have to first apologize for my site being down for so long. Thankfully its running and we’re back in business. I thought I had lost all my posts and my blog was gone forever, so I didn’t take any photos on my last outing.
For a recent lunch meeting we ended up at Sammy J Peppers in Langley, located at 19925 Willowbrook Drive. They’re menu is slightly on the boring side, basically salads, sandwiches, and burgers. I don’t normally like eating there because I find that the service is usually terrible, and I hate seeing all the ditsy girls in short skirts walk around aimlessly trying to remember a simple drink order. There is an unwritten rule that the service gets worse as the girls skirts get shorter. This time the girls were all dressed pretty normal as far as Sammy J’s go and they all seemed to be fairly intelligent with the exception of one or two.
I ordered the Bourbon BBQ burger with fries, there was also an order of blackened chicken fingers with salad, regular chicken fingers with soup, and 3 mini sliders from the others I was with. The burger was a really decent size and the bun was a perfect texture. It was a mix between a regular burger bun and a Kaiser bun. I liked how it was soft but still chewy enough not to fall apart or get soggy from the sauce but it was a little small. All the topping and the patty stuck out from all sides which made eating it slightly messy and hard to hang onto. The BBQ sauce wasn’t anything special but it did have a nice tang to it. It was also topped with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. The fries were your usually McCain’s frozen style, the thinner ones, but they seasoned them with seasoning salt. It was a little bit pub-ish of them but I actually liked it. The burger was very filling, in fast I barely ate for the rest of the day.
The chicken fingers that two other people ordered didn’t look any different than other chicken fingers I have seen but how fantastic can chicken fingers be? The blackened ones had some issues. They were VERY greasy and the sauce added even more grease to them leaving quite the pool of muck on the plate. Apparently the taste was good but I don’t think they’ll be ordered again based on the all the oil that they swam in. The sliders looked like sliders and I could only imagine that they tasted similar to my burger minus the Bourbon BBQ sauce. The prices were also pretty average for a place like that. My meal was 13.00 and I don’t think that’s too much for a burger and fries in a restaurant.
The only downside was the poor girl running the food orders. She didn’t know which of the two chicken finger plates the regular were or the blackened. It seemed pretty obvious based on the colour but I can over look this though, perhaps she was new. Overall it was a success and I might actually venture there again for another lunch. Thanks ladies for putting more clothes on!
