My guy and I took a trip downtown to buy him a new mountain bike and this just happened to be around the same time both of our stomachs were growling for dinner. Neither of us wanted to go to a sit down dinner because we had other plans and didn’t have a lot of time to spend on food so we decided on a Donair shop. We didnt know the area well enough to know where the donair shops were so J text messaged one of his buddies who is a Donair fanatic and takes his Donairs very seriously. He suggested Donair Dude and recommended the “Halifax style” Donair.
Donair Dude is located at 1172 Davie Street and has a large sign saying , best in B.C.
First off I have to say that the girls working were super friendly. A lot of these small Donair places have depressed collage kids working that could care less if they smiled or not. Donair dude was also very clean as well which was amazing. I got the regular sized Halifax style donair on pita and my guy got a Large beef Donair on Pita as well. Halifax style was meat, tomato, onion, lettuce, cheese (your choice of feta or cheddar) and sweet sauce. The regular Donair has topping of your choice and the traditional tzatziki sauce. To take their Donairs to another level they throw the pitas on a Panini Press and give them a perfect amount of crispiness. We were both very impressed and left with very full stomachs. They were also a very competitive price too, 2 regular Donairs plus one pop for 9.99.
The Best in BC sign should be there to stay, Donair Dude was awesome!
